Letter "X"

Our Letter "X" recipe was X-ray Vision Chocolate Chip Cookies. They were very yummy!! For more cooking pictures and the cookie recipe, click HERE

Olivia enjoyed painting on letter "X" at the library. Our children's librarian picks one letter a month and I've been trying to go along with that same schedule. Miss Jennifer, our children's librarian, is excellent and we enjoy our storytime with her every Wednesday! There is usually a fun craft or coloring page to go with the story time. Olivia likes making things...especially when paint and glue are involved!:)

Sawyer and Olivia's swimming lessons June 2012

We are really proud of Sawyer's progress this year! He got a little scared on some days but  he showed his courageous side and tried very hard to do his best. He can hold his breath very well. He can jump in and swim all the way across the pool in the deep end. We are very pleased.

Olivia learned some survival skills like reaching for the side of the pool and moving her hands across the wall to get to the ladder. We are very proud of her!

Book Review: Heaven is for Real Conversation Kit

Heaven is for Real DVD-Based Conversation Kit by: Todd Burpo

This book and DVD kit supplement the book Heaven is for Real. The kit can be used with small groups at church or in homes for family devotional use. My husband and I watched the videos with our children, and used the kit as a family devotional. Our children, ages 2 and 6, were too small to glean as much as I had hoped from the study, but I think older children would enjoy it.

There are five sessions in the book and on the DVD. In order to get the most out of this study, you must have already read Heaven is for Real. For each session, there are discussion questions and scripture that go along with the topic about heaven in that DVD session. Each session addresses a different topic. The topics are “Why Should we care about Heaven?”, “What is Heaven Like?”, “When Does a Person Go to Heaven?”, “Where Is Heaven?”, and lastly, “Who Goes to Heaven?” My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the interviews with Todd, the father and author of the book, Sonja, and Colton. The only complaint about the DVD is that my husband and I noticed that the interviews did not always stay on topic with what each session said it would be addressing.

This kit is great for any groups that enjoyed the book Heaven is for Real and want to learn more on the topic of heaven! The study challenged and inspired me to think about heaven more… “what a day, glorious day that will be”! I’m so thankful that the Burpo family have shared Colton’s story with all of us so that we can learn every bit about heaven that we can. I’m completely convinced that Colton’s experience in heaven really happened, because I know that no four year old could have made up facts, so precisely matching scripture, as Colton shared. I greatly appreciated Sonja’s testimony of miscarriage in the DVD. I believe that her testimony is going to encourage and bring comfort to many women who have experienced miscarriage and the loss of a child.
