Right to Life March 2014

The children of Crawford Baptist Church are memorizing Psalm 139:14 this month in honor of the Sanctity of Life month. Psalm 139:14 says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” The whole chapter of Psalm 139 has been speaking to me this week. I am absolutely amazed at the intricate details that God puts into creating each and every person. No one is a mistake. Everyone is knit together beautifully in their mother’s womb as Psalm 139:13 declares. What a mighty God we serve!

What an amazing morning I had as today my family and I participated in our first ever Right to Life March in Lexington. The walk was in honor of the Sanctity of Life Sunday being tomorrow, January 19th. Our church, Crawford Baptist Church, had been planning to attend, and today was the day. I have always been pro-life and I knew that I would enjoy the walk, but I just had no way of knowing how deeply my heart was going to be touched by the morning.

As we gathered at Lexington Baptist Church, Pastor Tim McDonald of Living Water Baptist Church shared with us that just this weekend a local girl decided to keep her baby instead of getting the abortion that she had planned. As I heard this praise, my heart rejoiced and my eyes filled with tears of thanksgiving to our Lord. And my husband, Eric, shared with me that he and the other pastors of OCMA (Oglethorpe County Ministers Association) had prayed for this young lady last Thursday evening. I know the road ahead for her is going to be hard, but she truly has made the right decision for herself and her baby; God is honored with her decision. Because life is valued by God, our Creator, He is deeply pleased with His Creation and has a plan for all people.

Despite the cold weather, there was a good turn-out for the walk. Many churches in Oglethorpe County were represented. Before we started the walk, Angie Williams said a few words, with Pastor Derek Paul of Glade Baptist Church leading us in a song. Pastor Jim Olds of New Life Church prayed for the event and community as a whole. The walk was from Lexington Baptist Church to Bell’s Grocery Store.

I challenge you today to read Psalm 139 in your Bible. We all need a reminder from time to time of just how special and treasured we are to God. Our God is not a distant god. He is close to us and knows our every thought.
